I've dreamt of a "clinic" on the land that would be a space for healing modalities of all types, and perhaps even some basic first-aid supports of the more medical mainstream. With my background in particular, I love the idea of providing services there to the greater Diamante Valley in regard to pregnancy, family planning, childbirth, lactation, and development of young children. This is a very far-reaching portion of the vision, but what if we even were to create a space where residents and local neighbors may come to deliver their babies, such as a birth pool? Obviously there would be safety and liability considerations, as well as much research about what the local needs/desires are (may not be a service that is relevant to locals ... I'm not familiar with birth practices in the area).
Dear Aubrey, many thanks for sharing these helpful thoughts. Considering the circumstances if a younger person (child) or even adult needs medical surgery, but especially in case of childhood disease, we maybe find ourselve in a situation to be dependant on conventional treatment, here is an information I will add as follows. Costa Rica has EBAIS (equipos basicos de atencion integral en salud) in each small town all over the country. I assume that is a far more convenient basic condition than in other latino american countries. And I can't say that medical supply is a poor service, remembering that I once had a cut that needed to be stitched and was brought to a public clinic nearby Quepos (my decision, instead of a private clinic) I felt to be in well educated qualified hands (that is subjective, of course, and was the staff, doctor of a clinic). But, I don't know how it works related to personal legal status of residency, if the EBAIS is available for everybody. I guess everybody living permanently in the valley would appreciate somebody with skills as you described/you own. Even by working hard in the woods or hiking in the hills, it can occur that it will be more needed than the home remedies of the medicine chest. Thanks for offering, Aubrey. Reflecting on a comprehensive service infrastructure and members with skills/qualities we should be truly aware of infants and pregnancy.
I've long appreciated this website. You can find communities around the world, and they offer trainings and workshops (sometimes free).
